	Family and local history research Any historical task that requires research in Cumbrian record offices and libraries, no matter where in the county, or how challenging the problem- bring it on! Transcripts and abstracts of documents If you require plain transcripts or abstracts of textual documents, in printed or computer-file format, however old or badly written the original document, PastPresented has the skills. Translations of documents in Latin or medieval French can also be provided.
	Searching for answers to historical questions If you have questions about people, places or subjects in Cumbria's past, but you don't know what sources might provide the answers you seek, PastPresented can help, both with preliminary consultation and, if you can't come to Cumbria yourself, with the detailed research. Digital photography PastPresented can supply you with digital images up to 5 megapixel resolution of historical source materials (by arrangement with the owners/ custodians) and of locations throughout the county.
	Prices

The price structure for these services is very simple:

• Initial task discussion / first email: FREE
• Up to one hour of task (including time spent on preparation of final report etc.): £20
• Each additional half hour (or part): £10 (discounts available for contracts over 40 hours)
• Digital photography included in the above, including 5 minutes processing time per image supplied (but see below for owners' rights)
  
  
• Travel to the following Record Offices and Local Studies Libraries is neither charged for nor included in task time (unless work is required very urgently- terms to be discussed):
  Barrow-in-Furness; Carlisle; Kendal; Whitehaven; Workington.
• Travel to other locations in Cumbria not charged for; but time allowance to be discussed.
• Travel to locations outside Cumbria is possible, but will be charged for and included in task time.
• Results normally sent by email FREE; but may be printed out and sent by post at cost if required.
• Unless agreed in advance, invoices will normally be sent out after task has been completed.

The rights of owners of documents etc. In general, there is no problem making a full transcript of any document for private study; however, the owners of any documents, however old, do have legal rights, which must be respected. Document transcripts are supplied on the understanding that PastPresented's clients will contact the holders of the original document if it is intended to publish sizeable parts of the transcript. In the case of photographic copies of any document or object, it is likely that the holders of the item in question will require a signed undertaking from the client before PastPresented can supply the photograph. In this case, PastPresented will send you the appropriate paperwork (usually in pdf format, to be printed out on your own machine, signed, and sent by post). You will of course be consulted in advance if item owners require a fee for any reason.
