Transcripts and abstracts of documents If you require plain transcripts or abstracts of textual documents, in printed or computer-file format, however old or badly written the original document, PastPresented has the skills. Translations of documents in Latin or medieval French can also be provided. |
![]() | Searching for answers to historical questions If you have questions about people, places or subjects in Cumbria's past, but you don't know what sources might provide the answers you seek, PastPresented can help, both with preliminary consultation and, if you can't come to Cumbria yourself, with the detailed research. Digital photography PastPresented can supply you with digital images up to 5 megapixel resolution of historical source materials (by arrangement with the owners/ custodians) and of locations throughout the county. |

| The rights of owners of documents etc. In general, there is no problem making a full transcript of any document for private study; however, the owners of any documents, however old, do have legal rights, which must be respected. Document transcripts are supplied on the understanding that PastPresented's clients will contact the holders of the original document if it is intended to publish sizeable parts of the transcript. In the case of photographic copies of any document or object, it is likely that the holders of the item in question will require a signed undertaking from the client before PastPresented can supply the photograph. In this case, PastPresented will send you the appropriate paperwork (usually in pdf format, to be printed out on your own machine, signed, and sent by post). You will of course be consulted in advance if item owners require a fee for any reason. | ![]() |
